I Heard a Bird
you want heaven
heaven sent
heaven came
and off you went
you want heaven
heaven sent
heaven came
and off you went
Lock up the ghetto
Lock up the ghetto
An hour of sun a day
I do not want to lead
I do not want to follow
I just want to get on
with all I have to swallow
I don’t need much bar the human touch
a word saying ‘you’ll be fine’
worries shared over tea and biscuits
I always leave the lighter
a misty rain soothes my warm skin
burned by the labours of the day
cool evening caresses my churning thoughts
I could sit out here all night
when you go to a place where the sun don’t shine
the soul flees your dreams so they torture your mind
you hold on with hope but it gets you so far
so you think about death and with it you spar
someday we may have riches
turn two fishes into shoals
right now we have each other
and no other girl can hold
In this world, it seems that we must be constantly outdoing each other. I would like to step off that nowhere train, that obvious disaster, and embrace a state of not giving a damn for such things as reputation, climbing ladders and being the very, very best that one busy bee can be.
Well I wish I knew better
The beat of your heart
So I could fix all that’s a troublin’
Now I know words beat letters
standing tall and walking proud
all because a girl allowed
a boy to give the life in him
to one with soul beyond the brim
