there is no other prayer left in me
neither for the poor
nor those who tend to the poor
neither for those begging for mercy
nor those who hold the sword

I am neither rich nor poor
and wish for neither
for in poverty there is need
and if there is a rich man
there is a poor man

what is one man’s bread
when millions starve
what is success that rings hollow
